HouseRenter was designed and built as a modern, high-performance rental marketplace platform focused on helping users easily discover nearby rental services and properties, while providing businesses and individual owners with an intuitive interface to publish listings, upload reels, and connect with customers in real-time.

Building a scalable, production-ready, full-stack rental marketplace from scratch in just 15 days is an ambitious target.
HouseRenter.in was conceived to solve a critical market gap: the lack of localized, mobile-first rental discovery platforms. The goal was to build a comprehensive engine where users can effortlessly search for nearby properties or services, view detailed profiles, watch short-form reels showcasing properties, post active listings, and instantly coordinate.

Rigid Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) separating Standard Users, Premium Service Providers, and System Moderators, ensuring strict panel authorization checks.
Big Challenges & Solutions
Location-Based Discovery
Calculating GPS distances dynamically in SQL queries would cause high CPU load and slow down pages with hundreds of items in real-time searches.
Haversine Index Optimization
Optimized using pre-calculated bounding coordinates in the search queries combined with indexing Latitude/Longitude columns to reduce database scan times to milliseconds.
Media Upload Performance
Users uploading uncompressed video reels and raw listing photos created massive storage bottlenecks and high network data usage on mobile devices.
Compression Pipelines
Integrated backend compression streams that dynamically transcode video uploads to standard web codecs, and compress images directly to WebP files.
Reels Swipe Lag
Rendering a continuous stream of video files created browser page lag, viewport stuttering, and heavy memory usage on low-end mobile devices.
Dynamic Dom Recycling
Programmed custom vanilla JS virtual lists that only render three video elements in the DOM active block at once, recycling cards out of view and pausing playing states.
